How donations will be used will be reviewed regularly to ensure we are being responsive to the requirements of those who most need our support.
The reading prompts are an element intrinsic to Refuge In Literacy UK, so working with domestic violence refuges across the UK is important to us.
In the first instance donations will be used in the following ways:
- Administration costs such as postage to enable us to get donated books from publishers to refuges.
- Travel expenses enabling INSET on how to use the reading prompts in domestic violence refuges in the UK delivered by working with one of our board directors.
Future Intentions
- Refuge In Literacy UK aims to offer training to key workers, family practitioners and other agencies working with domestic violence and organisations for free.
- We want to develop literacy confidence and knowledge so that families in refuge can harness the reading skills used in strategies in specific year groups in school.
- We want to ensure education isn't dormant when children are victims of domestic violence and are housed in refuges.
- We want to be in a position to donate money to refuges for stimulating artefacts, such as posters, pictures, or specific equipment to enrich children's lives.
